South Korea’s IMF Bailout?

Netmeds        Axis Bank Card        WoW

South Korea secured a historic US$58 billion emergency bailout from the International Monetary Fund on December 3, 1997, to prevent a national default during Asian financial crisis. The IMF required high interest rates, tight monitor policy and strict government budget cuts to stabilize the currency.

New labor market rules made it easier for corporations to lay off workers ending the traditional expectation of lifelong employment. The country suffered severe recession with a 6.7% economic contraction in 1998 causing mass corporate bankruptcies and soaring unemployment.

After South Korea was forced to accept the largest IMF bailout in history, more than three and a half million ordinary citizens donated their wedding rings, family hair looms and Olympic gold medals to help repay the countries debt - collecting 227 tons of gold in four months. Three and a half million Koreans lined up outside their banks in January 1998 to hand over their family jewelry. What do think of the effort of the Korean people and their nationalism?

Life after retirement is less about stepping back and more about stepping into a canvas you finally own. No one to question you or bother you. You are your own boss. Do as you feel. A shift in structure: the alarm clock loses its authority, trade-offs swap deadlines for freedom, and time transforms from a strictly managed resource into an open space to explore whatever you love to do at your convenience and pace.

Rediscovering passions: It offers the long-awaited quiet to dive deeply into creative pursuits, writing, storytelling and hobbies that were previously pushed to the margins of a busy career. Exploring new horizons: Free from workplace schedules, days can be spent traveling to new landscapes, savoring slow mornings, or simply reflecting on past achievements while building new memories and dreaming of later years.

A new kind of purpose: True fulfillment comes from shifting focus – sharing accumulated wisdom, mentoring others, engaging with community and nurturing persons health and peace of mind. Ultimately, retirement is not the end of a journey, but the beginning of a self-directed second act defined entirely on your own terms.

But many still wonder what after retirement? Most people after retiring from their job, profession or business go with the flow. They relax and enjoy life as before but without any tension of their job or profession. While some grumble and get nagged by their wives and children. They tend to feel unwanted and useless. Some even take to drinking to forget all. The first group has a positive outlook to the next chapter in their lives while the later have a negative approach to life.

You can guide them in the technical and finer nuances of the particular sport.

You could also turn interests into creative outlets: write personal memoirs, launch a blog, start a podcast, or paint. Sharing personal stories and lessons learned over a long life provides immense fulfillment. Your ups and downs, and rise could be a lesson to new generation.

If you are a creative person from the field of advertising, communication, journalism, you can contribute articles and posts online on different subjects. Dangers of Renting Car Abroad

This is a story of an Indian-origin family who took a flight from Australia to USA. Some months ago, an Indian-origin couple travelled from Australia to Houston, USA along with their young daughter who was to pursue her Ph d in Houston. They were in a happy frame of mind thinking about her daughter who would be pursuing her Ph d in America and her bright future. They planned to drop her and spend some days and return back to Australia.

Flying from Australia to US and on reaching their destination, they hired a Rent-a-car and drove around the place around visiting tourist hot spots and doing a bit of sight-seeing before flying back. After moving around, they decide to take a break. They parked their car in the parking area and proceeded to have lunch in a nearby restaurant.

hp        Axis Bank        VLCC

After a good lunch, on returning after a couple of hours, they were surprised to see the rear glass of their car was broken. They looked inside the three suitcases kept in the booth was missing. The suitcases contained their clothes, money, important documents and passport. They were shocked knowing well they were in a big trouble. They didn’t know what to do in a foreign land. Then with a help of a nearby grocery store owner, they lodged a complaint. The police didn’t bother to respond though they could have come and checked the CCTV footage to identify the culprits. They knew they were in a big mess, daughter’s joining the college and their flying back to Australia, and documents gone.

The big problem was the travel and other important documents including the passport which was in one of the bags. They were stuck in a foreign country. Travelers renting a car and driving in a foreign country must always be cautious of the stuff in the car. Never leave important documents and passports in the car. As far as possible, carry it in a carry bag and keep it close to you whether you go for lunch, snacking or a fast-food joint. Remember thieves are on the look-out for unattended cars parked in public places or in parking areas. Their happy trip ended in a fiasco. It can happen anywhere and it happened in America.
